Forty-Nine Golden LivingCenters Earn Five-Star Rating in April 2012

Golden Living is proud to congratulate the 49 LivingCenters that have earned a Five-Star Overall rating this month from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS).

The CMS Five-Star Quality Rating System rates the nation’s skilled nursing facilities on a one- to five-star scale, based on the results of onsite surveys to determine their compliance with Federal and State regulations during a twelve-month period. Facilities are rated on the results of their performance in complying with healthcare standards, quality measures, and staffing, with only the top 10 percent of nursing homes being eligible for the Five-Star rating.

Established in 2008, CMS computes the Five-Star rankings each month based on the most current survey data it receives for each facility. The rankings reflect federal criteria set by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) and are posted on the CMS Nursing Home Compare website.

The Five-Star system is designed to promote transparency and accountability across the industry, and assist consumers in making choices — which Golden Living supports.

Under the CMS Five-Star System, 5 Stars equals “much above average,” Four Stars equals “above average,” Three Stars equals “average,” 2 Stars equals “below average,” and 1 Star equals “much below average.” Golden Living’s Five-Star average “Overall” rating for all LivingCenters is 3.11 as compared with the National For-Profit industry average of 2.94.
