Golden Living Donates $8,000 to Joplin Community Organizations

JOPLIN, MO., August 8, 2011 — Golden LivingCenter - McDonald County and Golden LivingCenter - Pittsburg donated a total of $8,000 to Joplin area nonprofit organizations to assist with the Joplin tornado relief efforts. Eight organizations were chosen by the Anderson and Pittsburg facilities to receive these grant donations in the amount of $1,000 to each of the eight organizations. Among those organizations were: United Way, American Red Cross, Family Y- Children of the Storm, Area Agency on Aging, Joplin Community Clinic, Access, Economic Security and the Salvation Army. The check presentation was held at the Area Agency on Aging in Joplin, Missouri, on Tuesday, July 26, at 10 a.m. Each organization will use the donation toward the Joplin Tornado Relief Funds.

“Golden Living is proud to present these grants to each of the organizations,” said Eric Doerhoff, Director of Operations, Golden Living District 12, Missouri. “We are pleased to be able to support worthwhile organizations like those mentioned above, which are pillars of the Joplin community."

Attendance included six state representatives, three representatives from the city of Joplin (mayor’s office), one representative from NAHCA, several Golden Living representatives and several grant recipients and their guests. State Representatives present were Terry Calloway, KS House; Charlie Davis, MO House; Bill White, MO House; Gwen Delano on behalf of Senator Ron Richard, Tom Flanigan, MO House; Bill Reibolt, MO House. Also present was KOAM TV 7/Fox and KSN/KODE television stations. The total estimated number of guests was 35-40.

The donation will be made as part of Golden Living’s Community Support Initiative grant program, which is funded through Golden LivingCenter – McDonald County and Golden LivingCenter - Pittsburg's parent company, Golden Living. The Community Support Initiative grants are charitable contributions given in support of worthy non-profit community or regional organizations. Since the programs inception in 2005, over 1,570 grants have been given out; contributing $1,498,000 into local communities the company serves.

Golden LivingCenter - McDonald County provides quality healthcare for up to 96 residents, including those needing skilled nursing and rehabilitative care. The LivingCenter has been part of the Anderson community since 1981.
